* What’s taking the Bengals and OG Bobbie Williams so long to get this deal done?  Bobbie better get what he can get and sign on the dotted line…the Eagles just released OG Shawn Andrews.  Don’t think that the Bengals won’t bring him in to take a look at him.  He is a Pro Bowler, he is the brother of former Bengal Stacey Andrews, he is younger which owner Mike Brown loves, but he has some personal issues the derailed his career in Philly.  At one point, Shawn was a top OG in the NFL.

* Looks like the quick visit that OG Richie Incognito took to Cincy earlier in the week didn’t mean anything.  Incognito signed with the Miami Dolphins a few days later.  Proving my point that it may have been a move by his agent to create buzz.  The Bengals had an opening on the OL and the Dolphins know that Bobbie Williams wasn’t signed.  Was it a favor by the Bengals to agent David Dunn?  Maybe.  He represents Carson, Jordan Palmer , and  K Shayne Graham.

* Speaking of Shayne Graham…he recently switched to agent David Dunn, probably sometime after the season ended.  May be too little too late though.  He has to be “kicking” himself for not taking the deal that the Bengals had on the table last year before they slapped the franchise tag on him.  I don’t know what that offer was, but I’m sure he won’t get the same money from them now, or any other team for that matter.  And it’s a shame.  Good kicker, just picked the wrong time to have an off year.  Last year Shayne wanted to be paid up there with the NFL’s top kickers, I wonder what kind of deal he will get now.  Having David Dunn as his agent leaves the door open for returning to the Bengals.

Please no more Graham. Look I know there aren’t many kickers out there that have made as many FG’s or have the FG% he has, but the guy simply can not kick it when it matters. Not only that, he simply can not kick a 45+ yard FG. Thats not good enough in the NFL.
Tell me there is a better option… please!

I think he will come back. Thats my gut telling me, even though I hear he thinks he won’t. But if nobody else offers, I see Cincy letting them compete in camp, maybe Shayne gets better

Shayne getting better? really? He is at a point where i dnt think that makes any scense. He cannot kick in the clutch. PERIOD. Bringing him into camp to compete isnt gonna change that fact. He is a great kicker from closer then 40 yards when it dont mean much. Please dont bring this guy back. He hads hurt this team over and over again. Last year was a horrible year but its not the first time he has missed in the clutch. 39 yrd feild goal to put then Bengals in the playoffs in 06 comes to mind. JT, i have all the respect in the world for you, but getting better? This guy dont deserve another chance with this team.

What kind of irony would that be………..Shawn Andrews a Bengal…………Would Stacey stage a hunger strike to get back with the stripes so he lineup beside his brother?

First off, I want Bobbie back, I think he is a lot better than he gets credit for, he is older, but an important leader on the OL.

Do you think the Bengals think Bobbie is asking too much and they may be comfortable waiting until the draft to see what they get? If they have doubts about Smith making it as a RT, they might try to get another RT in the Draft and move Smith to RG. They also have Roland at RT, or they have Mathis and Livings, one could move to RG.

I just read that talks with Bobbie are heating up, with him being thier 1st priority and Reggie Kelly being 2nd. What is the status of Reggie, is he ready to check out medically so the Bengals can sign him?

Im all for bringing Bobbie back, like his leadership, but we have to get younger at Guard, i want that beast from idaho. I dont think Mathis/Livings is the long term answer on either side at G.
No Shawn Andrews either please. The last thing we need is a complete head case on the line.

Jason- I am not sure what everyone’s obsession with Iupati is. Dude got owned repeatedly at the senior bowl. Is is because he is samoan?

Samoan and a mammoth. 6’5″ 331lbs. Cant have enough Samoans (if you watched the special on 60 minutes you’d understand) and cant have enough beef up front.

He didn’t have a “poor” Senior Bowl. He struggled when they moved him around to different positions. He dominated the first day at his LG position. Bad at LT.

JT,

Where do you see the Bengals going in the 1st and 2nd rounds. And do you see us actually trading a pick away for a TE? It sounds like we are going to have two 3rd round picks, so i’d rather see us trade our 3rd rounder away.
And do you realistically see any chance in us taking Tebow. Im not a Tebow fan at all, but the more i think about it, if hes there in round 2 or 3, the risk might be worth taking.

On Graham, the other problem is his kickoffs suck. Need someone with a canon strapped to their hip, not a derringer.

on Tebow, listing to Dan Patrick show and he talked about Chad Henne’s comment about Tebow “In my opinion he’s not an NFL QB, and I’ll leave it at that”. Henne’s QB Coach is working with Tebow to get him ready for the draft, and we can assume Henne has talked with his coach and/or worked out with him and knows that Tebow has a lot of issues, he added the “I’ll leave it at that” because he doesn’t want to say too much and throw someone under the bus.

It just doesn’t seem like Tebow will be able to make it as a QB in the NFL, and if you try, it’s a wasted pick and/or roster spot. Maybe use him in a wildcat, but he isn’t fast enough for that either. He uses his raw talent and gets by with it on a very good college football team, but he hasn’t been able to learn or change in college.

Ron, Chick Ludwig needs to lose his serious man-crush on Tebow; I just don’t see the Bengal’s taking him, with all the questions plus the fact that they have some pretty big holes across the board that they need to be filling. I don’t doubt he’s a great guy or anything, and he might be fine in the NFL, but at this point the Bengal’s really can’t afford to play that game, where maybe another team out there might be able to right now.
I also thought Hobson’s letters section was interesting where he mentioned that he felt 2010 would possibly be the only year without a salary cap, that whatever labor deal gets hammered out a cap would again be part of it. All along, we have been told “Once the cap is gone, its not coming back,” now maybe it is?
