New Blogger alert….

January 17th, 2010 | Entertainment, NFL

Starting sometime next week, Charles Fisher will start guest blogging here at AllProBlogger.com.  Charles is a former Bengal, 33rd pick in 1999 draft, and a seven year NFL scout for the Green bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks.  He will blog about whatever is on his mind, but I’m sure he will also attack the upcoming NFL Draft pretty hard.  He will answer questions for all teams, so if you have any, just leave it here in comment section.  Should be fun.

I am a draft nut and look forward to Charle’s insights into a draft. A couple of questions about the draft though. I have always wondered how a decision is made on a pick in an actual draft room. Do teams have a set board and just draft the best player available??? If a team has obvious needs, does that supercede the best player available theory?? Does a team set a strategy of drafting per se a QB, an OL, WR, DL, LB, a CB, a Safety. And just takes the highest ranked player at its set pick and then cross that need off the board and then select the next highest ranked player at a position of need, cross that position off until they get all their needs filled??

Sweet ! Thank you John and Charles . Insight from a player personnel/scout type guy should be interesting . Do they select for talent or need ? That’s always interested me.

Again,thank you.

Two questions: 1) The Bengals had very poor running production running behind RT and the Right End. Will Andre Smith solve this problem next season?

2) Im very concerned about the receivers. Which receivers project to be quality NFL receivers next season that is currently on the roster?

  • Scott A: LOL - TJ talk does bring entertainment. I love, love TJ - if the Bengals wouldn't have grabbed Shipley I'd be ticked if they didn't bring him back to
  • Scott A: Just saw NFL Live - Chris Mortensen picks the Bengals to represent the AFC in the Superbowl. Losing to the Packers.
  • Scott A: On another topic - I really, really like the trade for Reggie Nelson.
  • JT: Yes he has. He's a very good interview when not talking to local media. Nobody challenges him on that here :)
  • Doug: Marvin has made an art out of misleading the local press. It's amazing when he does interviews with national media like ESPN or one of the networks,
