Randy/Scott, I was even welling up just hearing Chad's audio comments on 700WLW yesterday, so I definitely teared up when I saw it on the 11 o'clock news. Willie made a remark that was pretty spot on after he heard Chad, he said "I don't see how that guy (Chad) is able to play a football game on Sunday after hearing that." Think about it, we didn't know Chris and it affected us like this, imagine what it does to these guys who were his comrades in arms.
You know, for all the heat Mike Brown takes for being the redeemer, when you put it in the perspective of Doug's words, it really makes you feel like maybe Mike is on a path that too few of us are willing to walk ourselves. I really appreciated hearing Mike remembering Chris at the Christmas party, and Marvin giving his memories too. JT, what have you got about Chris? I am sure you have a couple good Chris stories too. Too bad it takes something like this for those kinds of stories to get told, isn't it?

Yeah I had to watch it at home. A lady from my work contacted me while she was working at home. She was crying from watching the video so I knew I wouldn't be able to watch it at work. It's hard to watch a guy like Chad crying. He's always smiling and cracking jokes. Just makes it that much harder to swallow I guess. Man I sound like a sis. I've never even met the guy. Just hits home. He was a year younger than me. It really puts life into perspective. I have a daughter on the way (my first child) and it makes me want to work that much harder to keep myself healthy and stay out of crazy situations like this so I can be around to watch her grow and turn into a woman. I don't want her growing up w/o her dad around. Man it's rough. RIP Slim!

Randy - I couldn't watch it while at work.... I could get to it, but when I saw the still photo of Chad - I knew I'd at least get weepy-eyed.

Here's a perspective I published about CH15

Having never met him either, it has surprised me how much Slim's death has affected me. Even with all the incedents that happened early in his career with the Bengals, there was something about him that led me to root for his comeback. I guess it was the fact that he had gone so low and yet was able to pull himself up that gave hope to a lot of people. It is tragic to see Slim's life end just as he was getting it back on track.

Yeah I know what you mean Johnson London. My day was pretty down after hearing this news. I actually cried watching Chad's interview. It was rough. Never thought I'd be like this over someone I never met.

I'm just a fan, didn't know Chris personally. I will say however that I always was pulling for Chris. I always supported him having chances to redeem himself, especially this last time and even took heat for my position. A friend of mine put it best, an emotional investment was made in wanting Chris to be redeemed and every investment carries with it risk, but every investment in a human being is a good investment. I was very disappointed in the circumstances surrounding his passing, because they were the results of poor decisions and avoidable. I now feel a sense of gratitude for the time that he did turn his life around and celebrate the success he did enjoy. He will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
