Bengals v Vikings

December 12th, 2009 | Bengals, NFL, Personal

I’m not sure what to think about this weeks match up between the Bengals and the Vikings.  All signs point to a Vikings win at home.  The Vikings will put stress on every area of the Bengals defense.  They have a good QB, RB, TE, WR’s, OL, and 3rd down RB.  They have a good KR, and a good defense.  But for some reason, the Vikings aren’t great.  With all of this “talent”, the Vikes don’t blow people away like the Saints or even the Colts.  The Bengals will have to play a really good game to win.  The Bengals have the perfect offense to go on the road and get a win.  They control the clock, they run the ball, and they have a short passing game.  This will take the crowd out of the game early and give Carson Palmer a chance to audible at the line of scrimmage.  The Bengals can’t have penalties and turnovers or they will get blown out!  The Bengals defense will have to play its best game of the season, because I think the Bengals offense will have a hard time scoring points.

On a side note, my company Jockbiz, had a toy drive last night and a few Bengals players and coaches stopped by and donated toys.  When I showed up, K Shayne Graham and DT Shaun Smith were already there hanging out watching TV(they got there an hour too early).  So that should put to rest some of the thoughts of bad feelings between those two guys.  They were always pretty good friends.  Everyone in the Bengals locker room knows not to take Shaun seriously.

Not having Peko will hurt our run defense. Peterson might have a big day making Favre more dangerous. Smith won’t be in shape enough to play many downs . Sims will have to carry the load because Tank is not performing as well as expected . Yeah, I know Tank has a foot injury and is playing with a lot of pain .

JT just heard we have already cut Shaun Smith! Why!!?? I thought we needed more bodies for the D-Line? You may need to reach into the closet dust off the cleats, and lace them up!
Any reason that you know of,(they didnt give one) was Smith out of shape or what?

Rumor has it Smith would have been deactivated for this weeks game. They needed depth at DB, so they released Smith. I’m assuming they will resign him after this week and deactivate Murray? Any of this make sense JT? As far as this weeks game is concerned. The Vikes have had problems with teams that are just as physical as them. Baltimore should have beat them, and Pittsburgh did. I think that bodes well for us going to Minnesota and making it a game. Run the ball, and stop the run….another Sunday of “Tressal Ball”, and hopefully another victory.

Forgot to point out that Rico Murray was activated. That probably means no Crocker this Sunday.

I don’t think the game plan is that simple. The Bengals beat those teams because they were in the same division and their offenses were pretty bad. I think the Vikes poses a threat at every position. With Crocker hurting and Roy Williams on IR, I see the safety position being a weakness. The Bengals offense needs to score more than they have been recently. And coverage teams will have to play well. Basically, the whole team has to play well at the same time. The Cardinals did that on Sunday and they won big. But the Cards were at home.

Yes Shaun was pretty much the last guy on the roster since he just signed. So not to screw up any other places on the roster, releasing him was the best option. He will prob be signed back after this game.

At some point we need to start questioning Carson’s play. Dude has thrown for 250 yds twice this season and has yet to have a 300 yd game.

Granted the offense didn’t score much in this game, but the Special Teams were awful… and Harvin didn’t even play!

Minnesot had 12 drives and only 4 of them started inside the 30 yard line… the 30…. Two of their TD drives started at the 40 and 43. Hard to win like that when you’re playing their type of offense.

Carson and Coles have to be two of the most over paid players in the league.

Well I guess we didn’t answer the bell today, huh? Defense played ok for a unit that spent nearly the whole game on the field. How good are Hall and Joseph!!! Offensive problems baffle me. Is Chad the only guy that can get open..? I mean when is Mr. Lavernaeus Coles going to earn his paycheck? Maybe venting a little right now, but we had a chance to shut the non-believers up today. And we just gave them more fuel to add to their fire!! Disappointing to say the least!

Ryan – it seemed like the D was on the field for most of the game, but the reality is Minnesota only had the ball for 4:30 minutes more than Cincy.

Hall and Joseph were lights out for most of the game and you know this was a National game, so it was good to have them show off – David Jones had a pretty good game as the 3rd CB too.

I wasn’t sure Cincy would win this game, but it is VERY important that they go to San Diego and win. Cincy needs that win so they can have the tie-breaker for 2nd spot in the playoffs.

However, the offense has been pretty bad since Henry was injured and I if they play even close to this in SD they lose.

The Special Teams was in complete melt-down-mode today
