Man, I am having my first baby in June and I am DYING to buy a good point and shoot to take pics of the little one.

I need one that takes QUICK shots and has some decent video capabilities…. the search continues! haha

Most cameras can do that now…I think canon has the best little pocket digital cameras. But I have a Nikon D90 SLR, takes pretty good pics when I need a better zoom or I’m at a bigger event. Flip video cameras are good for video too, less than $200 or their is one from Kodak as well. You can’t really go wrong these days with cams and video recorders. :)

I like my Cannon Powershot , it’s a few years old now so the newer ones should be better. Takes great pics and really nice video, but I think video is limited to short stints. I like that it takes regular batteries since you never have to worry about charging it, but that’s also it’s only real fault, because the flash drains the batteries pretty quickly and after several pics, it will still work, but takes forever to recover from a previous pic.

I like the Flip Video for the quick video clips. Early on with my kids, I used to try to tape everything, but I felt like I was never involved in the moment because I was too busy recording it. With the Flip, I can stop record something for a few minutes and then put it in my pocket. More hightlight reels than home movies.
