I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to sitting back and watching football all day. And eating some good food along the way. I’m not sure how good the games will be tomorrow, but I will enjoy them. As a player, I never got to experience playing on Thanksgiving Day, but it would have been an honor to play in front of such a large audience. Players don’t like the short week to prepare, but they enjoy the 11 day break afterwards. My favorite things to eat on Turkey Day is……Turkey, baked Mac and Cheese, green beans, rice and gravy, roast, and sweet potatoes. Please share your favorites…I’m always interested what people like to eat.
Here are a few pics from our Thanksgiving events this week. Bengals DT Pat Sims hosted a dinner at The Bethany House, a homeless shelter for women and children. I want to thank all the people who joined us at Embers last week and helped us raise the money. And Bengals DE Frostee Rucker sponsored families for a Thanksgiving Shopping spree at the Hyde Park Kroger in Cincinnati. Mom usually makes this great stuffing consisting of ground beef, mixed veggies, raisins and green olives. It sounds weird, but it is an excellent combo. She will also make fresh pumpkin and apple pies. She will make her pumpkin filling from scratch out of fresh pumpkins. It is fantastic. Unfortunately, I’ll be on a fishing boat in the Bering Sea. Have to pay the bills. Luckily she’ll make all that stuff over again for Christmas.
JT, I wish you and the rest of Who Dey Nation a Happy Thanksgiving.

It’s gotta be my mom’s stuffing with Oysters, and the old fashioned cream pie. Doesn’t get any better than that.

Got a lot to be thankful for. My kids came in from NYC. Family all here. Wife’s a gourmet cook. Sister in law recovering from a dual fatality accident finally. Been in ICU for ten days and it looks like three more but she’s alive. Great wife and family . Good health and the furniture’s paid for. What more could a person ask for.
Food was incredible . Starting with homemade Artichoke dip all the way to homemade Pecan pie and homemade pumpkin pie.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

[...] Domata Peko invited to Jonathan Fanene to Thanksgiving dinner. “The invitation soon spread to all of the Polynesian players on the roster, their families, and any other player without a place to go.” Other teammates are joining others. Kyle Cook hosted Tom Nelson and Jonathan Luigs, “where they’ll deep-fry a turkey.” Chris Crocker visited with Kyries Hebert and Leon Hall. Pat Sims hosted a dinner at a homeless shelter earlier in the week, while Frostee Rucker “sponsored families for a Thanksgiving Shopping spree at the Hyde Park Kroger in Cincinnati.” [...]

Just noticed thats two of my favorite people in that pic with Pat Sims, Mrs. Helen and her lovely daughter Toy. Always great to see Bengals out there in the community helping to make a difference. Nobody beats Mrs. Helen’s turkey ribs and greens down at Findlay Market!

This year was just a normal Thanksgiving for us….Turkey (Lemon Herb Recipe from Pampered Chef), Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Green Beans, Sweat Potatoes, Stove Top Stuffing, Cranberry Relish, Pumpkin Pie, and Cranberry Apple Pie.
My wife is a teacher at New Miami Schools north of Hamilton, it’s a very low income area. Last year, we hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day at her school for the community. My wife made 19 Turkeys I think, it was very nice, but she made way too much, the turnout was about 1/4th of what she expected. I know it really helped a few people, and some of them were able to take home tons of leftovers. I think that there were a lot of people in that community that struggle to feed their families, but on Thanksgiving Day, they have a lot more options, which explains the low turnout. Doing something like that on another day is probably a better idea. This year they opted to send care baskets, but I don’t think it was nearly as big of an effort.
