Happy Fathers Day!

June 21st, 2009 | NFL, Personal

“A truly rich man is one whose children runs into his arms when they’re empty…”-Rev Run

Happy Fathers Day to all.  I’m going through some emails and people keep asking when I will get back to posting.  I will start serious football blogging once training camps open.  Nothing to really write about now.  Most teams feel pretty good at this point of the off season.  Every team says that their chemistry is much better than it was the year before.  Every team says that they are in better shape.  Every team says that they are going to be more aggressive than in year past.  Just think, have you ever heard of a defense saying that they were going to be less aggressive???  Nope lol.  All is well in all 32 NFL cities.  The adversity will begin once the pads come on in August.  Only then will coaches see the real improvement of their teams.  And then there will be another phase once preseason games start.  When the regular season starts, it all counts.  The off season won’t mean a thing at that point.  So I’m getting very excited for training camp to start.  Should be a very exciting NFL season in 2009.

Good point. I don’t remember Paul Alexander, Geoff Hobson, Marvin Lewis or Bob Bratkowski last year before the season started giving any hint about how absolutely horrible the Offensive Line was going to play and how they would absolutely get Carson Palmer injured. It was all this happy talk that we are hearing now. We could have this great offseason of new acquistions via free agency and the draft, but if the offensive line doesn’t play together, expect more of the same.

Interviews with Paul Alexander are absolutely meaningless, more so than even with Marvin (Marvin only says anything worthwhile when he is interviewed by a national reporter, he doesn’t think twice about lying to the local press). I don’t know how many years I’ve heard Paul Alexander say the line “this is the best, or one of the best offensive lines we’ve ever had.” It’s like he’s got Mike Brown whispering in his ear exactly what to say to make people think they should buy tickets……

Sure all teams say it but things still look very bright for the Bengals this year….Chad back and wanting to play and win is Huge for the offense…Defense is definitly better and will be hard hitters

  • John Land: J T What is your take on signing Chris Davis? It kind of seems like we have a lot of these kind of guys.
  • Ron E: At this point, are the Bengals hoping Kelly can come back and be the starter, and they are more or less looking for insurance in case he can't play or
  • JT: I think they will try to get a TE before the draft. Maybe Chris Baker. Or via trade with Denver or Dallas. But working out a contract with those guys
  • John: Yes there is "No Cap" but it seems like a lot of teams have placed themselves on a "self imposed cap" there isn't mass spending going on if you look c
