Anyone getting this?
June 14th, 2009 | Personal, Technology
I’m debating whether or not to get the new iPhone next Friday(6-19-09). The prices are silly! If you are an existing customer, you have to pay more for the upgrade than if you are a new customer($599). However, there is a new software update that will give current iPhone users more features, but it won’t have all of the bells and whistles that the new iPhone will have, like the video camera. Maybe I will let the dust settle and get some reviews from my fellow phone geeks once this thing drops.

It has some good features but you are best to keep you 3g till next year. A new iPhone will come out then and you’ll get the discount.

thats a helluva lotta money for a phone, and very typical that its cheaper for new customers. personally, id go with a blackberry, but ive never owned an iphone so i cant compare firsthand.

I agree with John. I am waiting until reviews come out or when they drop the price for existing users. I have a 3G and the big difference between the 3GS and mine will be the lack of a video camera. I have decided to wait, read the reviews and hope for a price drop.

You could wipe your iPhone and sell it on eBay to make up the cost difference. If you find someone to unlock it you’ll get $300 + for it

I doubt the price will drop anytime soon, but I will wait. The software update will be out on wednesday, that is just as good as the new iphone. without video

ahh ok. Sounds to complicated for me. I like to keep mine in a drawer to remind me of the money i have wasted over the years on cell phones

i would be depressed if i kept all my old cell phones. i buy a new one about once a year, but i just got a curve and plan on keeping it for a while……unless sprint will start carrying the bold:)

You guys are O.K…….I would probably carry a dial phone if it had a long enough cord.Well maybe one of those “help i’ve fallen and cant’t get up” buttons.Good luck with whatever you get.

I wish Verizon Wireless had the I phone, they truly are the best! I love my curve.

that would be the best option. Verizon should just partner up with Apple

I’m one of those super smart people (sarcasm) that bought the iphone 3 weeks ago. Meaning I paid $100 more than those people buying it today. I have 30 days to return it so my options are return it and rebuy the same thing for $99 or return it and get the 3gS for $199. Not sure the video is worth it to me, and I’ll never use all 16 gigs, but isn’t the battery life better on the 3gS?

I say get it – the video quality is unreal. I have a Flip HD as well, and it is pretty close to HD.
