My Favorite Day of the Year
June 13th, 2009 | Personal

My new buddies
We had our 7th Bowling for Autism event today at Princeton Bowl. This was a pretty low key event. No other players, no media, no silent auctions. Just bowling and families having fun. Every few years I make this event a free party for any family affected by autism in the Cincinnati area. When we did this a few years ago, I found out that families couldn’t take their kids bowling because they feared that the kids would have a “tantrum” or others would look at them differently. So in this environment the families can have fun and not worry about a thing. We are planning a fundraiser in the fall so this event was more fun and casual. Thanks to all of the families who attended today. Here are a few more pics…

Hey John, Its great what you do for those families and kids with autism. My wife has been learning more and more about autism over the past couple of years. Her heart goes out to those families who have to struggle with the day to day. I really appreciate all that you are still doing for the community. I’m still very thankful for your generosity after Hurricane Katrina. I’ve been there about 3 or 4 times since then to continue to help people in the gulf region. Thanks once again!

This is great stuff…you deserve a lot of props. What a great cause!!
Doug Flutie is the man up here in Boston and in New England and he has a great foundation: http://www.dougflutiejrfoundation.org/ As you may know his son, Doug Jr. is autistic.
Have you worked with him at all? Let me know..I can help facilitate any kind of collabration if you would like. You have my email.
