Fun Night

I had a good time at the UC-WVU basketball game tonight. It sucks that we lost but i think it was a good for Bob Huggins to come back to town and get some closure to what happened to him in Cincinnati. When they played the video tribute to him before tipoff, you could see what he meant to the program in the past. And it looked like he shed some tears. But UC deserved to win this game. They shot the ball way better than WVU and play together more on offense.

Big John you got it wrong ,we won.I have to admit ,me ,along people I was with had tears in my eyes when they did that tribute for him.It was bitter sweet for me.I know my days at that arena are over….That man meant so much to his students, fans, piers and community. If you ask me ,that was nothing what they did for him.Thats not gonna replace the huge loss we feel everytime he comes to town.I have tried to come back and be a fan,but I can’t.The atmosphere is different and it just doesn’t feel the same.I think we took going to the big tourny every year for granted.I know I did.I hope some day I get that sensation of excitement and loyalty back, but for now it’s hopeless.I really feel bad for the players.I feel like Ive abandoned them, but I know its not all on me.

UC is bigger than Huggins. UC is trying to be a world leading research institution,
like that story at halftime about a revolutionary and groundbreaking spinal surgery
being performed on that little girl to save her life which has become the case that
surgeons world wide are studying. Sports are just a way for an academic institution
to promote themselves, and the promotion that Huggins was giving was obviously
not what they were looking for, whether it is fair or not is irrelevant. that was the dominant perception of huggins, drunk, crime, didn’t value academics, all of that. If IU can fire Bob Knight….I mean Huggs has a serious drinking problem. Anyone who drives when they are too drunk to walk…You have to be accountable for your actions, no one made him drink and drive, you commit the crime do the time. Maybe some people will recognize this quote “acceptance is the answer to all my problems today”. Huggins is gone because he messed up and was held accountable for it. The board unanimously voted for him to be gone, regardless of NZ. So good luck to him, but good riddance.
